WHAT'S YOUR STORY?

"We are 5 sisters from Houston, TX! Over 10 years ago, Lesli came up with the bright idea for Dad’s birthday. She decided we should do something different that year and brought up the idea that we should sing a couple of songs for him. He has always had a passion for music and it would be something different than the usual shirt and sock. Lol. Nadia did not want to do it, but Leslie convinced her that it would only be ONE time. Joke is on her lol.

Long story short - we performed and were a disaster: off key and danced all over the place. However, we realized that we really enjoyed it! We started taking singing classes and started performing at small local events and did that for a while. Then someone gave our dad the idea that Berna (the youngest at that moment) should play the accordion, that it would be cute and cause attention. So once Berna said yes, Dad said, well you all might as well start playing an instrument and we did. Fast forward to many years later, one more sister, many days of practice, sacrifice and hard work, and here we are as Las Fenix."

WHAT'S YOUR PURPOSE?

Berna: "I feel that my purpose being in a band with my sisters and as women, is to inspire and show those girls who want to be in the music industry is that you CAN do it even if it is full of men. If you love what you do there should be no obstacle. When I'm on stage my purpose is to wake up the dreams these little girls had and that might have been shut down by something or someone."

Lesli: "I feel like my purpose is to bring some laughter to those around me. It's sometimes really easy to let work and stress take a toll on your everyday life, but I like to remind my sisters to always stay positive and always keep laughing."

Adela: "When I think about what my purpose in life is, I picture myself inspiring other girls and women to go after their dreams no matter the circumstances. Always encouraging and helping each other along the way."

Nadia: "I feel like my purpose, along with my sisters, is to show others to believe in their dreams. To know that with sacrifice, patience, hard work and a lot of heart, you can make anything possible."

Anahi: "I feel that my purpose in life would be to help change the world even if it's little by little and help with society's problems of equality. Also to help little girls know they can do what boys/men do and maybe even better. Help people not get judged by the color of their skin tone. Help others go on in life and not be scared of being judged when they shouldn’t. My purpose is to make people feel free and at peace."

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST HARDSHIP YOU'VE FACED?

"Overall, being women in the music industry is our biggest hardship. We feel like women are very underestimated. We have to give our 1000% on stage. We have to dance harder, sing better, and overall show those in the industry, that we are capable of being as good and as determined as men."

SHARE ONE OF YOUR HAPPIEST MOMENTS THUS FAR.

"One of our happiest and most memorable moments was being able to perform our music on one of the biggest and most recognized international shows in the Hispanic market: Sabado Gigante. It was truly a dream come true."

WHAT'S YOUR CONSTANT MOTIVATION & WHERE DOES IT ROOT FROM?

"Our fans, as well as each other, are our biggest motivation. Only we know how hard we've worked. Only we know how many hours we have put into our music since we were little girls as well as all the sacrifices we've made. Every fan, every picture they ask for, every sweet word and comment drives us to be even better. All of that pushes us each and every day to keep going."

WHAT DOES THE TEXAS COMMUNITY MEAN TO LAS FENIX?

"To us the Texas community means friendliness. We have been to many different states and have witnessed that not everyone is always welcoming. Texas is definitely filled with the most nicest, friendliest people ever. Everyone is always nice, smiling and willing to help. WE LOVE YOU TEXAS!"

WHEN YOU THINK OF TEXAS, YOU THINK OF _______.

Berna: Blue bell ice cream

Lesli: HOT, HOT, HOT!

Adela: Dr.Pepper

Nadia: Whataburger

Anahi: Friendly people

WHAT'S THE MOST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE YOU'VE DONE TO DATE?

"Our most memorable performance to this date was definitely when we performed and recorded live for our album/dvd, Retro Live. Not just because it was a completely live but because for that album we ventured into a more pop/rock sound. Something we had never done! It was fun, it took a lot of hard work and practice, but it is something we are very proud of, and which we will never forget."

WHAT'S SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT EACH ONE OF YOU?

Berna: "I was in track when i was in high school."

Lesli: "I carry hot sauce in my purse."

Adela: "I love running."

Nadia: "I can wiggle my ears. Lol."

Anahi: "I'm a notebook and book hoarder."

IF THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF A MUSICAL COLLABORATION WITH ANYONE DEAD/ALIVE , WHO WOULD IT BE?

"I think we would've done a musical collaboration with Selena Quintanilla. She is known for her beauty and charisma, and continues to be remembered for who she was and her great music. We would love to have had at the opportunity to work on music together.  "
